Morrowind Modding History

Postby Fliggerty on Tue Nov 04, 2008 11:38 am

I have created a new website called Morrowind Modding History.

The purpose of this is to collect and archive old Morrowind mods.  My goal is that eventually all of those mods that have been or will be culled off of PES, TESNexus, Elricm, and those many other sites that aren't in existence anymore, will be gathered and made available.

The best way I can think of to accomplish that is by allowing community members to upload those mods that they have sitting on their hard drives or archive discs somewhere.

So get digging and uploading!

Also, on a side note, I am looking for staff volunteers to check and approve all of the uploads.  If you'd like to help, shoot me a PM.

As I said in another thread about this, your email address was wrong, you put an "n" instead a "b."  I don't know if I can activate your account now.  I may have to delete it so you can sign up again.

So...it appears that nobody has any old mods on hand?

Oh, I was thinking of having some kind of modding oscars, maybe we could host something like that in Morrowind Modding History?

Please elaborate you idea a little more.  I'm hesitant to hand out "awards" of any type to existing mods though...that's been discussed repeatedly over the years.  I never want to upset or alienate anybody over something like that.  But as I said, I want to hear your idea.

Well, it's just something I thought up randomly. We don't have to do it.
Oscars for mods, kinda like they have Grammy Awards or Emmy awards, but for mods. I don't know the complete mechanics of the Oscars or how they work, but based on what I see, actors vote for other actors.

So... Modders vote for nominated mods or Modders.
I'll have to do some research on the Oscars a bit...

Here's a thought: do this "Oscar thing" now and do it again a year later, or a month later. I bet the results would be different.

The problem with awards is that those who don't get them may possibly complain about not doing so and/or make charges of the voting being rigged. I think that while it may sound like a good idea, it would be hard to bring into practice.

Yeah, that would probably happen. But most morrowind modders I know are very mature.
It was just an idea, it doesn't need to happen.

The modders might be mature, but I'm not so sure about the community as a whole. Just look at some of the comments over on PES and TESNexus as examples.
