Forgotten Towns in Morrowind

She isn't really essential Leo, as for the Telvanni Hortator quest you can kill every Telvanni Counselor, except Master Aryon, and still be named Hortator. Aryon even tells you this when you talk to him about becoming Hortator. However I'm not certain if you can kill her before the Hortator portion of the main quest. Even if you do have an uprising quest mod mad for here the modder could alter the dialog settings for the Hortator conditions to be set if the crazy biddy is killed, and the new one say "okay you've got my vote for Hortator". Then there is the inherent dangers with messing with dialog, but if you are careful, and take the proper precautions. But it can be done.

One of the ones that immediately pops into my mind is Dagon Fel. It's a small Imperial town in the middle of some dwarven ruins. In spite of that, I mainly use it just as a dropping off point to get from one place to another, like going to Khuul from Sadrith Mora, or going to a ruin or shrine on or near the island that it is on. I feel that just a few more quests and clutter in this town really could have made Dagon Fel a very amazing town to explore.

It's actually a Nord town, the story behind it was that when Morrowind became part of the empire it opened it up for nordic settlers to 'reclaim' areas that they lost after the nordic withdrawal from the province. But yeah there's pretty much nothing there, the only quests I can remember is the Masque of Clavicus Vile one and the start of the Helm of Tohan. It's one of the areas I mod a lot for that reason; I'm scared to touch places that are important because I'm worried I'll mess them up. For me Khuul is just the place to go to Solstheim from and I can't ever recall going to Vos for anything so those are probably the places I'd pick.

I used to kill all the Telvanni except for Aryon, Baladas, and Fyr, before the main quest. I don't remember it ever interfering with the main quest.

I find Dagon Fel interesting. While it is a Nord town, it's odd that you see no Dunmer. You'd think the Redoran would be keeping an eye on the Nords. The Nords mention dark elves being wary of Sorkild the Raven, as if there are supposed to be some there.

You know, I actually like that crazy old Therana; and it makes me sad when I have to kill her during the RoHT quests.  Good thing DG finally released Therana's Tomb: now I can see what really happens when you kill an immortal (and crazy-cool!) Telvanni!

It has to be Vos. I don't think there is ANY quest which takes place there, there are a few in Tel Vos, which is not quite the same thing... As for a small town that I like, I quite like Gnaar Mok - mainly because I usually live in the abandoned shack as a grumpy old hermit

Forgotten town....Deservedly - Molag Mar.  I hate that place;  a dingy, dusty, dirty rat trap out in the middle of nowhere.  There's nothing to do, the landscape is wretched, and it's a day's walk to anyplace remotely civilized.  Ald Velothi ranks a distant second;  there's little to do there but at least the scenery is better.

The other villages are improved by mods so I scarcely remember their default state.  There is the "Gnaar Mok Houseboat" which I've further tweaked for more storage and an NOM compatible kitchen (this is done to all my homes), and an offshore merchant selling pirate/nautical themed clothing and weapons.  Dagon Fel has a nice armor/clothing store on the waterfront from Canadian Ice, and I converted Sorkvild's tower into an elaborate player house, complete with 360 balcony at the top.  

As for House Redoran, I only joined once.  The quests are hard work for little reward, their home town is afflicted with ash storms half the time, and in spite of their supposed piety they are ruled by an evil windbag.  And why, once you have disposed of said windbag and become the Grand High Holy Poobah of House Redoran, do you not get his huge mansion in the giant crab shell?  No, they build you a modest abode a half day's trek out in the boondocks, with a view only a sandcrab would like.

Not a town so much a few places in a town: the Arena and St. Olms and St. Veloth's cantons in Vivec. While I know the first was prominent for Morag Tong, I was always disappointed you couldn't fight in the arena beyond I think the Mages' Guild quest? Meanwhile St. Olms and St. Delyn's had so much lore, but I can think of only one quest that actually took you to them. (And kind of a hidden quest, being a Twin Lamps one.)

Vos/Tel Vos. It has a Temple! But Almsivi Intervention won't take you to it! Kinda summarizes how brushed over I think it got.

Ebonheart. Not really brushed over, as there is a lot to do, but before Oblivion came out, I was sad that the rumors of unrest of the Empire and the Emperor were just that, and not something you could actually do something about. This was also waaaay back in my first playthrough when I was a kid, and thought the Morrowind world to be endless.
