*****************************************************************

        TITLE:   Keyring
        VERSION: 1.1

        PLUG-IN TYPE: Tweak

        BY:          Fliggerty
        CONTACT:  http://www.fliggerty.com

Do you ever get tired of your inventory being cluttered up with all of those keys,
which may or may not be useful in the future?

You will find in your inventory a keyring which will hold all of your keys.  Even though
you will not see the keys in your inventory any longer, you will still be able to open
locked doors and containers as normal.

This mod is dependent upon Morrowind Script Extender (MWSE) v0.9.2a or later, or MGE v3 or later.

*****************************************************************

       2. INSTALLING THE PLUGIN

*****************************************************************

To install the plugin, unzip the files into the Morrowind/Data Files
directory.

REQUIREMENTS: Morrowind, Bloodmoon, Tribunal, Morrowind Script Extender (v0.9.2a or later)

*****************************************************************

       3. PLAYING THE PLUGIN

*****************************************************************

From the Morrowind Launcher, select Data Files and check the box
next to the Keyring.esp file.
Launch Morrowind via the MWSE shortcut.

The first time this mod is loaded, you will be prompted to equip the keyring.
This will give you the option of turning the auto-find function on or off.

If you turn it on, keyring will occasionally scan your entire inventory looking for keys.
When it finds them, they will be moved into it.  You can also set it down
and open it up like a container and put keys inside.

You can equip the keyring at any time to toggle this.

*****************************************************************

       4. PLUGIN FEATURES

*****************************************************************

-- Condense your collection of keys into one easy-to-carry inventory item.

*****************************************************************

       5. PLUGIN VERSION

*****************************************************************

v1.1
-- Added equip-to-setup feature.

--Fixed bug preventing proper function of keyring when auto-find is turned off.

--Auto-find feature will check first portion of an id to find the word "key."

v1.0
Initial release

I hope you'll enjoy playing this mod. Please direct comments, suggestions,
bug reports, questions to : fliggerty@fliggerty.com

       6. CONFLICTS

*****************************************************************

I have tried to avoid any conflicts with any common mods.  I may have missed something
here or there, if I did please let me know!

The inventory scan will not find any keys that either do not have the word "key" in
the name, or that have a name that is more than 4 words.  It will also look in the first
portion of the item's ID, before the first "_" to match the word "key."  You can still put
these in manually.

It was requested that I add an ID check, which I was hesitant to do for performance reasons.
I did add this one concession though.

If you have more than a few dozen keys in the keyring, you may get a momentary stutter
when you first look at a locked door or container.  The best way to avoid this is to
occasionally dump off keys that you don't think you'll need any longer.

Please reports any bugs or problems at <a href="http://www.fliggerty.com/">Great House Fliggerty.</a>

*****************************************************************

       7. THANKS

*****************************************************************

Too many right now.  Still compiling the list.
But to start it off:

Naajaw: Made the keyring mesh.
Zinette: Made the keyring icon.
Dragon_Lance: Assisted Naajaw with the mesh.
Illius: Helped with testing.
tetchy: Pointed out bug with auto-find feature.
ps33: Always my scripting mentor.  While having nothing directly to do with this mod,
nevertheless I would not have known how to use MWSE without his infinite patience and support.
FreshFish: For giving us MWSE.
CDCooley: For continuing the support of MWSE
Bryss Phoenix: As always, infinite support and patience!
Everybody else who has always been supportive of modders in general.

Fligg, how will this affect slave key rings? Will the slaves still acknowledge that you have the key to their bracers?

Hmmm...I didn't even consider that.  If you turn off the auto-find feature you can keep the slave keys in your inventory.

I'm going to have to give that a good think.  :chinscratch:

I suggest that you exclude any keys that have slave in their name from your mod. In my knowledge that would be simply to do.

Another wonderful and long overdue addition! Like the de-nock arrow mod, the keyring fuction in COBL is one of the most indispensable mods for Oblivion. Thanks, Fliggerty, for bringing this to Morrowind. :D

Thanks for this Fliggerty!

As far as the slave keys are concerned, perhaps a separate key ring would be needed for a better track of keys   . Simply a different colored ring would work.

It's not an issue of what key ring is used, DL, it's if the game will reconzie that you're carrying a slave key automatically. My guess is no because key posession is determined via a dialogue filter and not a script.

I am experiencing a problem wirh this mod.  It worked great the first few times I used it then....  I got the key from dead Ned for Gentleman Jim and when I laid the keyring down to get the key the keyring dissappeared.  I tried using the CP   set fl_kr_autofind 0   but the CP could not recoqnize that command.  Any suggestion?

First, what you want to type in the console is set fl_kr_auto_find to 0 and hit enter.  I have to apologize, that is a typo in the readme.  I intend to update this with a simple configuration script that will automate that for you.

For the issue with it disappearing, there's a few things we can try.  First set it down, then close your inventory.  Then in the console type set fl_kr_visible to 1 and hit enter.  That may make it appear.  If it doesn't, type StartScript "fl_kr_move" and hit enter.  See that makes it appear.

Fliggerty, thank you again for responding. The console accepted all of those commands but nothing changed. the keyring (which has a black box behind it) still disappears and there are no keys in my inventory.   Edit.  I worked my way back through my saved games and found one in which the keyring was working correctly.  I will start there tomorrow to see if I can find where this problem first arises.   If I find anything I will let you know here.  I will also check back here to see if you have any further advice.   Might this be a quicksave problem?   Wrye Mash found no problems in any of the bad saves (1 quick,1 auto,1 hard).

OK,  So here is what i have found out.   When I lay the keyring down and it disappears if I step out of the building and then step back in it is where I laid it down. Also at one point I was at the Wayfarer's Inn and when I set it down something weird was sticking out of the floor.  I took a screenshot of it but I don't know how to transfer the screenshot to this post so I'll have to save it for another time.  I also now realize that the black square  is part of the icon.

I'd like to see that screenshot please.  Do a normal reply (rather than just a quick reply at the bottom of the thread, hit the "Post Reply" button.)  At the bottom hit the "Attachments" tab and upload the pic.

WTF?  I've never seen that before.  Do me a favor and open the console, then click on that thing.  Type "ori" into the console and hit enter.  It will tell you what file that comes from.

I tried that and got OutputReflno requires a selected reference.  Here's another s/s from a different angle.  As I move around this it changes colors from all white to multi-colored to these two colors.  Also if I look up slightly it disappears.
ScreenShot 2.GIF
here
When I try to click on it nothing comes up.  If I step outside and come back in it's gone and my keyring is on the bar where i laid it down.

That's the weirdest thing I've ever seen.  I have no idea what is causing that.  I'll try to reproduce it and see what I can find out.
