MMH v1.5 Bug Reports

Left a message somewhere else in the GHF, before I found this thread, re probs w/Morrowind Modding History. I am using an IE browser on a Windows 7 OS, although I'm not sure but the SweetPacks infection may have changed that.
Text of my message left on MMH follows:

The download links for DeusXMachina's Master Index Journalfix mod are malfunctioning.
My first attempt using the upper "Download" button took me to a malicious downloader that tried to take over my IE browser. It inserted an unwanted browser Add-on that I cannot figure out how to remove. It says it's from Bit Cocktail, LTD and its add-on is called SweetPacks.
It certainly did NOT download the M. I. JournalFix.
Then I tried the "Mirror" link which took me to a empty website that was listing itself "For Sale". Again, no MIJfix.
Succeeding attempts to use the "Download"" buttons, upper or lower, resulted in no response whatever.  
An attempt to link to "DeusXMachina" was equally fruitless.
Where else can I go to get this Mod Fix so I may do the Master Index quest?
Pressing the "Send Message" button also seems to yield no response.

I since have found a copy of the MIJfix on an old backup hard drive. {I'm trying to restore Morrowind following the death of my desktop hard drive.} However, the misdirections are troublesome.

Master Index Journalfix v1.0 I have downloaded and tested this archive with several browsers and all were fine.  Perhaps you as Kite suggested in that other thread have a virus?

Sounds like malware to me.  Probably a "Browser Helper Object" or BHO.  These get by Norton because they are usually put into something the user thinks is legitimate and deliberately allow.  The last one I got was from clicking a download link on a questionable site.  I didn't even have to install what I downloaded, just clicking the link gave me the BHO.

or, if you have a good idea when you got it, maybe even restoring your computer to a point before you got the bug.

Unfortunately, no forum that allows links to be posted by users can police each and every one, all *internal* links at GHF and her affiliate sites are legitimate.  If you are ever re-directed by a download button or a site link, you definitely have malware.

In order for this to happen, the owner of the mod has to match the logged in user.  I've made efforts when mass importing mods to change the owner to that of the author so that people can edit their mods.  It should be a matter of course for stewards to set the ownership of a mod to a member if they know that the author is a member here...and if anybody ever mentions anything like the above, it should be pointed out that we do have the aim to allow people to edit their mods.  I do intend to have the update file functionality working very soon.

If a normal user is able to upload a mod but it isn't setting them as the owner (aka submitter) then it is a bug that needs to be fixed.  I haven't seen this happening, can anyone confirm if this is the case?

Hello. I've also had problems editing submitted records. The Edit and Delete buttons are there, they just don't do anything when clicked. This was the case both before and after the entry was approved by Leonardo. http://mw.modhistory.com/download-13-14827

The code in the description window seems to be messed up too, not sure if that's related...

Was the code in the description window fixed?  I don't really see anything wrong there...unless it's not all supposed to be underlined?

There are still some tweaks I need to figure out with the new text editor.  I implemented a new version of TinyMCE, which meant a lot of BBCode changes had to be put into place.  TinyMCE has never had a proper phpBB3 dialect written for it, so I was doing that from scratch, not to mention translating existing mods over on the fly.  There are bound to be some oddities that we have to fix as we see them.  When you see a mod that has text that looks wrong, take a minute to edit it...in 90% of the cases, it will work out just fine once it's been edited.

I found and fixed a bug that was preventing non-steward/admin users from editing and deleting their mods.  The buttons were present, but they weren't responding at all.  So if you were one of those who was trying to edit your mods and none of them were working, please try it again now.

It seems to me that there is a bug or something when you click on the Alchemical category and viewing the first page there, because somewhere in the middle there is a least two mods (both of them are totally empty) that doesn't going anywhere when you click on them except you'll get a database error.

I see them too, Leo.  They are not situated together on my screen and I have no adblocker running.  The ads are showing up perfectly at the bottom of the screen.  They appear to be empty mod entries.  If you click anywhere in the box, you get a new page with an error message.

I've looked at this, and I don't see any issues here.  I've checked it in five different browsers, on several different machines on multiple operating systems.  In Firefox the ads were not showing up, but I discovered that apparently Adblock Plus was installed and blocking them; I had no idea it was there....I had never installed it (as a webmaster I am fundamentally opposed to Adblock, I support these sites in part by revenue from ads, and I get knowledge and other things from various websites and believe the least I can do is allow my traffic to help pay to support those sites.)  

Anyhow...I digress.  As I said, I've looked at that from every angle, and I don't see anything wrong.  If the ads aren't displaying, there's a reason for it....a javascript error or an extension on your end that is preventing that.  The box where the ads go is "clickable" and goes to a page that doesn't exist (I don't get a database error...Leo please give me the specifics of the error you are getting, including the URL it is taking you to) so I'll fix that.

Fligg, I checked back and what I saw before is no longer there.  The best I can describe it is that where the list is broken up, I mean where there are slightly wider spaces between the mod description boxes on the page, there *were* additional boxes.  They looked like very thin, completely empty description boxes and they were clickable, just like the others. When clicked, they went to non-existent pages.  All white with some black error text.

I really don't think it was ever ads, because I've never seen ads in the middle of the page before (and I don't use an automatic ad-blocker), but whatever it was, they are gone now.

i'm not sure if you still have the tes3cmd scan thing working with 1.5 but it doesn't seem to be. I just added the info to this http://mw.modhistory.com/download--2161 and it's one of the dirtiest i have seen in a while and there was no automated admin comments added.

The problem with the file you uploaded seemed to be that it wasn't actually being extracted and tested at all.  It seems that depending upon the type of rar compression that was originally used, the extraction failed altogether.  I just implemented a new logging class (it came to me in a dream last night ) and so I was able to easily identify and fix the problem.

Nope.  The space is there, but no ads.  The footer ads are showing up just fine.

Hmm, I'm a bit befuddled at this point.  You wouldn't mind checking it in a few different scenarios for me would you please?  I've looked through on several computers in every browser I have available, on multiple operating systems, both logged in and out, and the ads are always displaying for me.  When you have a chance would you please look and see if they show up in any browser you have, and if being logged out/in makes a difference at all?  I'd certainly appreciate it.

Sure.  I'll test it as I do some downloading.

EDIT: Double-checked Opera on the Resources page.  Still got the ads at the footer, but none on the page, both logged in and not logged in.  I checked to see if any content was being blocked and nothing was.  I'll look at IE next time.

No ads for me and nothing's blocked. I'm using Opera version 12.15, but will be switching to 12.16.

Firefox ESR 17 in Safe-Mode (no plugins) and I get ads every 10 mods, as well as the one at the bottom. When I enable plugins, Adblock has to be disabled on MMH, and No-Script pretty much has to allow all.

They show up on IE 10, even when I'm logged in.

Now that I see what everyone else is seeing, I'm glad Opera is doing whatever it is doing.  Ads every ten mods, plus the footer, for members, seems a bit excessive.  Especially when they're moving.  They break up the feel of the page and remind me of those huge annoying animated gifs so many forum users can't live without.  I mean, you put so much effort into the artwork and then the user scrolls down into a bright black, white, and red ad for lifelock. A bit jarring to say the least.

I understand wanting/needing the revenue, but it makes one wonder why anyone would want to join, if they get no benefits other than posting to what appears to non-members to be a dead forum.

Just had a mildly odd occurrence that I thought could no longer happen...while uploading screenhsots for Royal Chargen v1.2, the first and second screenshots switched positions after uploading.

Just had an odd error while uploading this file: Mannequins for Sale v1.31. Here is the web page I got when it went to refresh after clicking the submit button click here. The download appears to be fine though as I downloaded it successfully and it matches the file I uploaded.

Another small issue, when doing an author search such as http://mw.modhistory.com/search-au-Tamriel+Rebuilt+Team and you get back multiple pages of results, the search type changes from an author search to a general search for the second and any follow on pages, http://mw.modhistory.com/search-p2-i25- ... built+Team Note how the words Tamriel, Rebuilt, and Team are not in the author block on page 2 there. In addition now the results jump from 3 pages to 20 pages of results.

Something has happen that's for sure, so I suspect the database has been damage or have been corrupt which needs to be fixed.

I check this http://mw.modhistory.com/download-53-14932 link and that mod has nothing to do with your mods Stuporstar unless you want to upload a picture or a patch for that mod.

That's a really odd thing....that should always be an array.  I threw an extra check in there, so it shouldn't happen any longer.
