i usually play a archologist, or some kind of anthropoligist finding out why this random ass old stronghold turns out to be a dagoth head quarters of sorts that leads into a underground passage into the red moutain behind ghoust fence and some east indian god looking dreamora guards such a passage. more or less a well tounged and well agile for no other reason then being compltly above and behind the call of duty. crusader of mass intelligence and exploration determantion skills. i am playing a character now only known as kuroma ashieru who is a orc samurai who fought against a bunch of red guard pirates his father was a rather famous sword craftmen and weilder of such weapons. he wears the face of god, indrol pualrons, daedric greeves and boots. the ashlanders light armour artifaxct things, dare i pronounce or type out the word i think i might explode, the awesome guanlets that u find in gaar mak's sixth house base, and carries a daedric tanto and katana, a glass halberg and daedric bow. and mechalanious items. grand master of the haula (misspelled) house and normally makes a mint by loots anything with a fancey name while looking for sanguine as it was his fathers dieing quest. unfortantly thats why the red guards came father had only three, going to jail wasent on kuroma's list of things to do but retailating against the red guard who had ties with the black hand wasent relly on his list either. but other then thats i geuss that summerizes how i play without stragtic or in game map malling. yeah.

I play it pretty simply.  Collect my companions, decorate my vast transdimensional paradise with them, conquer the world.

I tend to rocket around with a combination of Jump and Slowfall.  You haven't truly killed in Morrowind until you've boosted your speed to two hundred, sprinted forwards, leaped a hundred feet at your enemies while casting spells, and come down amid a rain of meteors swinging a giant battlehammer.

Very rarely do I ever find myself just sitting in one place attacking someone.  I don't even do like, kiting, where I run backwards while firing spells or whatever.  No, I use Blink and three second bursts of five hundred points of levitation.  The only form of movement I feel is really lacking in Morrowind that I can't mod in is some kind of wall-crawling.  The ability to crawl across a cave ceiling while sneaking and then drop just behind my enemies and rip them open from neck to waist.

Also, I randomly think it would be nice if there was a blink spell that also rotated you 180 degrees after sending you the appropriate distance, so that you could fire it off in combat and suddenly be behind your enemy, facing them.

That might actually be possible to script... It would be pretty convenient, too. Only problem would be that you could blink outside of rooms and stuff.

For some reason that spell reminds me of Kingdom Hearts II. I think you had to do that A LOT to beat the first boss.

Nice topic here -

I tend to not use companions, they become sort of a nuisance to me often, however there are a select few that I'll take with me, be it for roleplaying purposes, or because they are awesomely made companions (*ahemJASMINEahem*). Anyways, I'd say OTHER when it comes down to me sort of having a "party". It also often depends on my savegame/character.

My general character; Antes, tends to work with only one companion, and that's all he ever uses. He also makes sure that the combat selections are opposite in certain cases, and in other cases, depending on who exactly I'm fighting, I may switch it up, so rather than "Companion = Marksman | Player Char. = Close Combat" I may do something along the lines of "Companion = Marksman | Player Char. = Long Range Magic" if I'm fighting a mage, for example.

Generally though, when I'm conquering the world, I tend to be the "big man on campus", whereas my companions are just kind of my sidekicks that sit in the background and taunt the enemy while I kick his/her/it's butt. =P

I like companions for precisely that reason, companionship. It gets a bit lonely in Morrowind, especially in the hinterlands.

I will agree that they are largely useless in serious combat, though. I can't even imagine taking them into the final chambers.

I'll also agree that the companions in BG and BG2 were way better, but then, they were designed into the game from the ground up. It would have been tragic had those companions stank. I'd say that, given their provenance, the companions in Morrowind are just fine.

Morrowind was designed from the ground up to be a single player experience only. Sure we were given the ability to give NPC things and have them follow us around, but the AI sucks and it's only through the scripting endeavors of various people that we have companions that are somewhat useful now. BG's (and Dragon Age's) companions were design to be henchmen from the get go and thusly have better AI packages. Still, if you're careful, you can usually keep a companion alive without any real issues.

If you want battle help, I'm pretty sure that's what summon creatures spells are for.  They don't get mad at you or cry when you accidentally hit them because they stepped into your swing and you hardly feel bad for them when they poof out of existence.
"Shine your light on me,
Illuminate my dark places.
Free me of my past
And let my soul fly to yours."

The three golden rules of mods:
1) You want it, you make it.
2) You don't like it, don't play it.
3) If you make it and you like it, don't listen to anyone else.

This. Exactly this. I was wandering around MW with my PC and got lonely, and tired since I couldn't sit down. I protect them in battle because they're my character's 'friends' and they would be sad if they died.

Yeah, agreed with Oubliette. It actually reminds me of wandering in Fallout 3 a bit, ya know, it gets kind of boring, and even a bit more eerie and ominous if one travels the wastes alone. I like that vibe actually though, it kind of tests how easily you get frightened

Anyway, I do the same as above, if the companions are well developed or just plain ol' good characters to have around I tend to try and keep them living. However - when it comes to mercenaries that I hire, I could care less. Sure, they offer good protection for me and all, but for the most part I can crush everyone on my own. I actually just use some companions as wagons like on Daggerfall. They are just often kind of like my walking storage chest, that is another reason I may try and keep them alive, because I'd prefer not having to cheat to strengthen myself, and I'd most certainly not want to drop all of my loot D:

My playstile is so slow. Usually in the starting i move from Balmora, exploring around and try to become better gaining skills, money and useful tools and weapons.

During my journeys i prefer avoid enemies, but when the battle come i will do my best, starting with spells and arrows, then fighting in the melee until enemy retreat, or die.

My general stile is like a traveller/explorer, and during my journeys i mark every cave/tomb/fortress i find (automarking, stumbling to the door and the site appear permanently on the map) i try to do the same also with temples but is a bit difficult for the presence of hard monsters, and i must be very careful.

Also castles and cities are explored deeply, and i try to have the best knowledge of these sites.

About treasures, i left a lot of things, taking only the necessary, or the most precious and valuable to sell at "my friend the scamp" the only trick i use in the game, because is impossible to sell valuable objects gaining less than half value....
Some times i take also items that i like, or i want as ornamentals for my homes.

I usually start a new game drop the letter to Caius and then start another new file  I wish I could be more commited to my files, but I always have another idea for a new character and start over.  Ive only 'mastered' 3 files, a bosmer archer, a imperial warrior, and another imperial warrior that is better than the previous.  The next highest level was probably 7 or something like that.
