worst thing for me was playing Morrowind on the same save for 2 years on the xbox maxing every faction and finding every unique item ingame(all done without the internet) then having my xbox die with the save on it T_T that was before Oblivion came out, I quit playing after that and i'm just now getting back to the game

btw worst thing to ever happen in any TES game overall is a tie between breaking my Daggerfall CD and Oblivion existing

Worst thing that happened to me? Wasn't paying attention while levitating along the ashlands. Ended up dropping right into a pool of lava. Along with being isolationist and xenophobic, my spellwright also has terrible spacial awareness.

When I first got back into Morrowind (a few months ago), I started a Markynaz character.  I loved her, with her badass horns and tats and her carefully-chosen outfit that I saved up carefully to buy, and I managed to get her all the way up to level 20 even with Gatanas as a companion (he's got that shock spell that would kill us both in almost every battle, so it's a good thing I don't feel the same as some of you about loading savegames).

The problem was that I used the quicksave/quickload and the autosaves frequently from level 1 on up.  By the time I got to 20, the file was so broken that she couldn't go into the sewers in Mournhold without a fatal crash.  Then other areas started crashing.  I ended up having to delete her right when she was getting interesting. :(

Worst thing that has happened to me was my first character. Bosmer mage. Couldn't even kill a cliffracer without struggling in level 15.

Trying MGE with a brand new 1GB video card and 2 gigs of RAM..

Trying MGE. that is the worst thing that has ever happened to me in Morrowind.
My Album. Thank you Kalia!

I had created a custom race, all I had done was designed the basic stats and "borrowed" Khajiit meshes. I then completed the mainquest, most of the side quests, and leveled a small coastal town (oops). I decided it would be a great idea to finally play Bloodmoon and Tribunal. My mesh for the "1strtforearm" or something could not be found. Forever after I couldn't change armour or the game would crash, or weapons, or anything else. Someday I will recreate the race and make new textures.

I got crazy and added too many mods at the same time. The game crashed, and I could not make a new game w/o CTD. Thus, I had to reinstall the main game and all my mods :( .

That's why one of my first things I make is a restore attributes ring.   Usually with some of Galbedirs pilfered soul gems.    Usually only costs a couple thousand gold for 1 second on self for all eight on on ring or amulet.
Right after I make one that increases my personality for 100 points for 2 seconds.  Just enough time to talk to the enchanter and save a lot of gold.   :sheo:  Yes, I know....cheating.   :mockery:

One of the worst things that happened to me was, fresh character exiting the C&E office and 3 MCA goons killed me and not one guard did a darn thing!
Of course there is always the old BSOD after playing for X amount of hours only to reboot and realize you never made a save. :saddy:
Anybody that has played MW a lot has pulled the quicksave/load error I think.   That's why I don't use it.

My eleven year old son has recently started playing MW and one of the first things I taught him was the 3 rules of Morrowind.
1. Save
2. Save often
3. When in doubt, SAVE!

OH! And who can forget being a level 1/2/3 character and try and attack a lowly scrib only to get your loincloth handed to you because you never got a lick in!

Well, this was interesting. The other day, I managed to get Morrowind to freeze. Not your average freeze, just straight frozen. I had my fog mod running and the scripts blew up and I think the pipe got deadlocked from both ends, and the entire thing just froze solid. I couldn't even Ctrl+Alt+Del to the menu to pull up the task manager. Usually I can Alt+Tab out of any black screens and use my second monitor to work the task manager, but not one of my hotkeys was helping. Had to hard reset finally, and lost a bit of work on the mod.

And that's why, if you're a Nord, you never hook up with a witch. It'll all be lookin' good till she starts using magic, then you

The worst thing that ever happened to me happened to my second character (first one died by a nix-hound). Anyway I used an x-box version because my computer couldn't run it. I had invested hundreds of hours into the character.

So, one day I decided to go to the corpusarium, and killed a corpus monster walked out side and some guy tried to kill me for killing the corpus monster.... so I killed him. Then as I walked out Some chick tried to kill me because I killed him.... so I killed her. Then another chick tries to kill me saying I killed her daughter... so I killed her.

Anyway, I came back about 10-15 levels later finally trying to do the main quest (I'm not a quest person) and when talking to Divryth Fry.... he tried to kill me because I killed his wife. So my level 42 character with all the money in the world couldn't do the main quest, even the other way.

It really sucks playing it on an x-box (I play it on PC now...) there are so many glitches and the fix is always "use the console command..."

Actually, an even worse thing just happened. I finished Tribunal, and was playing around with my weapons. I equipped Sunder, then realized I wasn't wearing Wraithguard. Instead of equipping it (I was down to 1/4 health) I quickly hotkeyed my next weapon. Guess what? Keening. I died, and my last save was right before going to Sotha Sil.

@Maiq: Nice. I never got into the hotkeys, but I guess it was a good thing. :P

Well, Morrowind cost me a sanity point earlier.
I have no idea what happened, but I went to test a mod and it started freaking out. Vertices were bouncing across the screen, got to the point where the top-left half was white, the bottom-right half flickered random colors. No textures appeared, except in the twisted and distorted dialogue window. I accidentally opened dialogue and couldn't close it out, nor could I find the exit button! Then I got into the options menu (I think) and couldn't get out of that...
The whole thing was so Cthulthic that Fraps, MGE and DirectX itself all refused to even take screenshots of it. The Fraps record button (I wanted to record it and post it here) made the counter (the only real thing I could see) flicker red for a frame then go back to yellow.

I was playing bloodmoon, And I was at the part where you choose Either team Skaal or team Hircine. I chose to go with the wolves. I transformed while I was in the skaal village, and was PWNing everythin in sight. But there were so many spells being cast at me, and the weird "wolf-vision" effect was on, so my game CTD'd from Video card overload.

I hadn't saved since nearly the begining of the Bloodmoon quests.

Wow, seems I am not the only one with a Romance Mod heartbreak.

Mine are threefold:

One, when I had my character Swiftbow pick up Luthien Morvayn at the Fighters guild, and after a Morrowind month of so engaged a little intimacy via the MCA option.  Was quite nice actually.
But later that day, I went upstairs at a tavern after telling her to wander a bit, and saw my first courtesan.  Had no real intention of truly having at the bedfellow, but never having seen the dialogue, I clicked at the comments.

Disastrous mistake.  Got an immediate freeze of the screen, and a dialogue window pops up from Luthien saying "YOU BASTARD!!  Was I THAT bad in bed??  I thought I meant something to you, but I see I don't.  Well, just have your fun, I will right down here when you're finished."

I backed away from the screen, embarrased, at which the Mrs peered over the shoulder and laughed heartily with the "naughty, naughty" finger crossing.  I didn't take advantage of the courtesan, even picked up Luthien and walked out on her, but the damage was done.  She was righted pissed, and although would still be a fighting companion, wanted absolutely nothing to do with me as a friendly companion.  When the Mrs tried the same thing, on purpose with her own character, her companion walked right out on her, stating "Ugh!, you slept with an Orc!"  My turn for laughter.

The second one was very sad.  I had used the Romance Mod to engage my favorite companion, Ingred Rems of the Dome Home mod, to marry.  Was wonderful.  Had her as a companion/wife from prison freedom all the way to the end of the main quest.  There were three children; Velfhe, Wulfgar, and Brietta, and the Ascadian Rose Cottage was a flur of familial love.  Then, I created a new character , and after a few weeks had him start a life in the same way.  When I loaded my first character, the screen came up "Your Romance is Over", and I was stunned.  The character was straight arrow, hadn't gone to a courtesan or new romance, but it was over, boom.  Later I find out that sometimes there is a glitch where it seems you can only have one full romance on one Morrowind system.  Even if you have multiple characters, it ends the Romance on your unloaded character.  After all that time, no more contact.  It was as if I was a ghost in my own home.  Just the infant kids were still reactive, but Ingred just walked about ignoring the character in full.  That was painful.

Last one was with the character that I had been inspired to write the Lokken fanfic, Dandowin.  I had installed Rogues on the system, and was plagued day and night with attacks from Rogues and all sorts during his life.  Jumped at some of the worst of times, like when I was fighting Hircine at the end of Bloodmoon.  But after level 20, I retired Dandowin to mere clean up quests and doing what he can for the peoples of Lokken.  After freeing Larenna and her family in the mod, he settled in to a great life of jaunts about the island, loving his newfound wife, mother-in-law, and new scripted wee ones, Solvieg and Lena.  Daring to risk the Romance Mod again, and with no others otherwise engaged, he and Laurenna were enjoying the full on looks of her getting quite round, just like in the fanfic.

But then, at level20, Rogues kicked in with the most vicious of adversaries, 3 to 6 DarkBrotherhood assassins with legal scripts with his name on it, and poison paralytic blades.  It was on a cold Lokken night, the children were sent to bed and Dandowin walked throughout the castle to say goodnight to all, from maids to guards.  When he got to the master bedroom, Emma's kiss animation kicked in and she walked over from the window, gave him a kiss, and as usual asked "My love.." and "What can I do for you?"  Since this was after the birth, he got a present for her.  He had bought a nice Aleanne dancer dress, so placed it on her, got him into his night robe, and watched her dance in the new outfit.  Just then, I hear "I HAVE YOUUUUU!!" and six of these assassins appear.  He got hit in succession with their blades, so he was paralyzed.  Just then, she stops her dancing animation and tries to slug it out with the other three assassins, and then got killed right before poor Dandowin's eyes.  I had no idea at all about the Console "Resurrect" command, so again, like Ingred, this was painful.  Just then, when he was free again, he slew all of them, and mourned(candles and body disposal).  I got Dandowin dressed, put on the Barlizar's Ring, and ran straight from the temple to the Dark Brotherhood lair.  In a repeat of his earlier actions, I made sure that not only was nothing left alive, but I took fire from the Furniture Mod and laid flame to every restocked body that I could.

After that, I removed Rogues from the system and started a new Dandowin, from scratch, but taking the same history...first exploration, then questing, then retiring to family life in Lokken with ice, snow, and hope.  But unlike before, I now make sure that I purchase the Resist Paralysis spell, and with the legal spellmaking, soultrapped the spell to myself at 100% resistance.  Comes in very handy with the likes of many wizards and fauna that paralyze.  Since then, I always engage and befriend Shareel, the half-Daedra from the MCA mod, because she is as lethal as she is interesting to look upon.  When I am surrounded or encumbered, she takes out adversaries excellently.  I'm tempted to write her life story fanfic, if I could find who was the originator on the MCA team and ask their permission as I did with Emma.
