Make a cake?  Surely you mean "pick" a cake.  You can't grow cakes.  You are not a cake tree.

Make a cake, as in, go to the kitchen and put ingredients together and cook them with the resulting yield a cake.

Cake tree. That is a hilarious idea. I love it. Hmmmm. Weren't we supposed to talk about anime? I have started watching Eden of the East.

Eden of the East was pretty good, I watched it a month or two ago.

Finished watching Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan.

I say it is hilarious, if somewhat disturbingly so.

Started watching Sekirei Pure Engagement today, since it's finally out.

Is there anyone reading this thread who is currently watching/keeping up with any of the following *anime*: Naruto, FMA:B, Bleach? Has anyone watched Sengoku Basara?

EW, if you show up again, I wanted to say that I watched Baccano! and now have to watch it again, but yeah, it was great. Confusing the first time around, but fun anyway. Isaac and Mira are a hoot. The whole thing is almost like an anime Pulp Ficton, but less dark and more...fun! :)

Also, I might as well throw this other there in this thread: I was thinking about starting a blog sometime. Mostly my entries would be like reviews of anime, some discussion of video games (I am not as knowledgeable about that, but I don't think I would always have enough to say about anime to get at least 3 entries per week, which would be my goal), and maybe occasionally about other stuff, like books, movies, food, holidays, etc. I'd want to try to stay a little bit focused at least at the beginning, b/c I know it's easier to build up some sort of readership when your readers can count on finding something of interest to them whenever they return to your page.

Now, my first question to all of you would be: do any of you know of/read any especially good blogs that have much to do w/ anime, or know of any good anime forums that aren't exclusive to one particular series? I could just start randomly looking around at anything that's out there, but I would rather first ask all of you if you know of any that you would recommend. I recall looking at the forums at ANN and they didn't seem to have enough activity to be really worth getting into.

The other thing I guess I would also like to say is that I would sometimes like to have friends also post reviews of such things, b/c I think it would be cool to not just have my singular perspective the only thing there.

Anyway, any thoughts/comments/suggestions/etc would be really, really appreciated. TY!

I'm up on all of the latest episodes of Bleach and Naruto Shippuden - about damn time they got to Hinata's big moment. I cried like a baby, again, screamed at Naruto again and hated Sakura just that much more while she sat on the sidelines and watched - again.

Just saw the first episode of Highschool of the Dead. Liked it so much I went out and read all of the manga, it'll be worth watching for as long as it lasts I think but it's production values look way too high so either it'll be getting downgraded at some point the way Gunslinger Girls did or it'll be cut long before the manga reaches conclusion.

Also caught the first Occult University - it sucks. I think of it as a cross between Rosario+Vampire and Maria+Holic trying too hard to be fun in ways that simply aren't.

Oh and I caught the first episode of Kuroshitsuji II which was a marked contrast to the previous season and might actually be a good deal harder than the original's fans will like. It's also completely off cannon as far as I can tell as the events at the end of the Kuroshitsuji anime had nothing in common with the manga which is continuing with the same cast of characters though the butler is currently playing dead.

Mostly I read an ungodly amount of manga as the animes of my favorites are horribly short lived and don't follow the manga's story far at all before getting canceled.

Been too sporadic with the current series that Cartoon Network plays on Adult Swim, but we still try and catch the Cowboy Bebop or Inuyasha.  Will proabaly have to just get the series to really see all of them, as a missed few episodes leaves you really out there.

We keep an extensive VHS collection of them, and some of my absolute favorites are the Petshop of Horrors series.  The Miyazaki collection is of course almost required here (laughing), from the loving "Kiki's Delivery Service", to the soul/gut wrenching "Grave of the Fireflies."

I found a decent series on Zune Marketplace, that I will have to get back to when I get the chance.  I like the animated versions of jidai-geki, or the historical dramas.

Gren, I used to be a moderator at the huge AnimeNation.com site (gejutsuka), there are extensive areas where you can get the scoop on anime series, movies, and merchandise.

Eirik: Very cool--thank you and that will be on my menu! Do definitely see all of Cowboy Bebop: I still think it is one of the best series ever, although it was much more groundbreaking in its day :)

Oubliette: you've mentioned a few things I haven't heard of, so now I'm all in a tizzy to find these titles...I am watching Shippuuden on Hulu, so I am a week behind the Japanese release but otherwise caught up. Yes, today's ending made me want to throw things b/c I did not want it to end.

Deathstalker: could you let me know which blogs you read? Melancholy of Haruhi is one of my favorites--it's just so off-the-wall in a way that I dig. And is that a new Trigun series/movie/something? The original series is a classic in my book.

I finished House of Five Leaves, which was decent. I caught up with Bleach, but I swear if it does not seem to improve story-wise within the next five eps or so, I am going to ditch it. It has been a long time since I got real enjoyment from it, and the only reason I am giving it a chance now is that they just handed me a cliffhanger that I have to follow up with. :P

Oh, and FMA:B--the final episode is at Funimation's site, so I have wrapped that up, too. I was really quite happy with how most of it wrapped up, although I think Al should get to hit puberty already, that voice is really...well, for continuity I know they had to keep the same voice, but...yeah, okay, I'll shut up. :)

Sorry about being ahead of the curve, you can catch reviews on most of what I mentioned on Anime News Network though.

Bleach I'm actually more into for it's villains now. They're more interesting and nuanced than Ichigo and his friends. I'm still waiting for them to explain his father etc but not really caring if they do or not. The villains however are much more fulfilling and there's always one or two I'm hoping will be rehabilitated right up to the moment when someone kills them.

I watched one or two episodes, and while it was funny, IDK if I can get into a series with episodes that short.

For some reason always loved Black Cat for the Doctor guy and the really weird weapons. Invisible sword that changes size, giant demon looking thing growing on Creed's arm, playing cards, gun with magically re-appearing bullets, glove with unbreakable strings on it with knives on the end of each string, wolf with a metal tail used as a weapon and the list goes on!

@gren, the series is very long though, so just watch like 3 at a time to fill your episode-length need.
