Mouse Wheel Doesn't Toggle in CS Anymore (!)

Do you have a problem? Let's figure it out.

Mouse Wheel Doesn't Toggle in CS Anymore (!)

Postby MSam on Fri Jul 23, 2010 6:14 pm

HALP.

Usually to look through a cell I use my middle mouse button to go through the cell. Uhm...did anyone understand that? So, I click and hold down the middle mouse button, and when I move the mouse the whole cell moves with it so I can focus on other areas.

I recently got a new mouse (Microsoft Comfort Optical 3000) and NOW IT WON'T DO THAT ANYMORE.  :saddy:  I installed the drivers and everything and it's no dice! Then, when I tried to switch back to my old mouse that allowed me to do it, it won't work either!  :saddy:

I cannot mod unless I can go different areas in the cell (obviously). Does anyone know of a way to fix this, or know of a manual way for me to go elsewhere? Does this make sense?  :banghead:

Perhaps, you could look up the mouse driver on the web. The model number should be on the bottom of the mouse, or maybe not. It's a factor of chance.

The model name (as far as I can tell) only says 'Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000', along with an array of bizarre images. I'll google the mouse further on the web though, thanks.

edit:..except I'm not sure where to look up problems about it not working on the CS in the rest of the world. =(

If Windows sees it, Morrowind should, unless of course you have it disabled in your menu.

Until you get the problem sorted out, the following might help you:

Space   mouse movement = pressing down on the mousewheel
V   mouse movement = zooming in/out

There are plenty which fulfil similar functions, but those two are the main ones.

I actually don't use the mousewheel all that much, personally. That's probably because I think the mouse I had when I first started modding Morrowind had no wheel.

You could re-install the CS.  It sounds like it's confused.

1) You want it, you make it.
2) You don't like it, don't play it.
3) If you make it and you like it, don't listen to anyone else.

Try uninstalling the drivers. They were the major change, just plugging a new mouse in doesn't do a whole lot. Microsoft does lots of nutty stuff in their drivers, and you probably don't need them anyway (only for fancy mice, like 6-button gaming mice or optical IR radio magic mice).

If it's like my logitech mouse I got recently the middle button has a lot of extra features attached to it which turn off the scrolling that I use for the CS, 3ds max. I can thankfully turn these off by closing out the program that runs in the bottom right hand corner (can't remember what it is called). Is there some kind of program that is running with it that changes things?

I can effectively mod again now.  :VivecSmile:y  Will try installing the CS again and taking a look into the drivers (this mouse is actually simpler than my last one). Thanks so much to all you guys for your help!!
