Finally! I've been waiting months. Soooo who has it already? Who is gonna get it? To be honest I already have it. Hehe. Still downloading from steam at this point though. Maybe I'll post screenshots later to annoy you all.

Nice, did you get the collector's edition? Also since you preordered it what extra ingame stuff do you get?

Gogogo. The game finally finished downloading for me. I hate my internet. I'll probably spend the next few days straight playing it.

My bank account will be quite empty after I buy my new computer, so I'll have to wait a while before buying. But I'll get it when I have the moeny for it.

I'll get it but I'm not in a rush.   I have several things going on right now and just don't want to get too wrapped up in it.

I just played it 4 hours straight. Call me an addict.

Nah. I played Dragon Age Origins for just shy of 50 hours straight.

How? That's like no even possible, unless you're playing Minecraft. I'd have to get food, or at least use the bathroom. Sleeping would be tempting, too (I can't stay up for 50 hours sitting).

I plan on getting it.  Unfortunitally I choose Black Ops over it, so its going to have to wait until I get some more $$$.  I didn't really wan't it because even though F3 was one of the greatest games ever, New Vegas seems redundant to F3.

Redundant? A little bit. A billion times better? Absolutely. It's worth getting. Obsidian did so many things right making this game.

Except, apparently, for Steam, quick-saving and resolution changes.

I've heard nothing but complaints and problems about the first two, especially the cloud over-writing new saves with old ones, since release. Plus the reports that it gets crap framerates on anything nVidia and the FPS can stay constant when you cut resolution from 1080p to SVGA.
Apparently they had to push out an update last night, it was so bad. Updating within a day or two of release? Yeah, that's quite probably the best example of shoddy code I have ever seen. And the fact they tied it all into malware like Steam just makes it that much worse.

Steam can drown in a lake of firey kittens and I wouldn't so much as be silent for a moment.

And the 50 hours straight is excluding bathroom breaks and food breaks. Thats why I counted it just shy of instead of a full 50 hours.

I'll most likely get it .. but not this side of new years I think .. firstly I don't really have the money to splurge on it right now .. and secondly I have too many other things that I should be doing ..

This is why when I heard Bethesda was not making it, I was disspointed.  I know bethesda isn't the best, but its certaintly better than most with Customer Satasfaction, and bugs.

This, I have to say, trumps F3. It fixes most problems from F3, and includes some ideas from popular mods, like weapon mod kits and the ability to create useful things. Pretty neat game, unless you get stuck in the casino. I lost 1000 caps in one go. Needless to say, I reloaded :sheo:

EDIT: Now 8 hours online, 3 characters. A level 13, 1, and 3. I'm just really stuck choosing sides in the war. I was determined at first to help the NCR, then I changed my mind and helped Caeser's Legion, then I ended up working for Mr. House. I might just choose option 4: Me :P
It's a really immersive and much more complicated game than point-and-shoot and good guy-bad guy.

Uh... Bethesda games tend to have more bugs than most, and more crashes than almost any other company. They're on the low end of that scale, it's just generally forgivable because of the scope of their games. Obsidian is one of the best developers around, as well, as far as gameplay. They have people from Fallout 1, 2, Ice Wind Dale, and plenty of other legendary titles. That's why New Vegas is a real Fallout game, as opposed to FO3 (which was a Bethesda game).

In other news, it seems Steam has, for the time being, disabled the cloud saving features. Or so I've been told. Too many errors and syncing issues, since launch. That's an improvement, at least. Also, a second (smaller patch) was pushed out last night or early today, but without release notes.

Definitely not a game I'm spending money for, despite how good it seems to be.

You may have to treat it like a new version of Windows: give it six months for most of the bugs to be found and patched before you use it. I may check it out next year after it's been patched and if they release a GotY version with those patches already installed.

Yeah. The last sentence of my above post should've had a "for the moment" in there somewhere. Apparently it's a great game, loads of fun, and has a good story, but there's some issues with it yet. Once I hear that it's stabilized, I'm definitely getting it, collector's edition if they have one.

It's been my policy for many years now to never buy a game until it's been out for at least a year. Also has the advantage it'll be cheaper, sometimes a lot cheaper.

Yes, but they also make some of the more complex games.

Ive never liked Obsidian  :saddy: .  Your right, they have good gameplay, but the story *usually* sucks; don't know about NV though.

So is Steam required for it?  I despise the fact that you have to be online to play a single player game...
