@ Grimspire:  That's a really good point, actually.  I guess no matter where it's set, a bunch of us will still end up being surprised... :)

Wasn't TES III oringinally supposed to take place in Summerset Isles? I mean WAY back, pre-production.

One legal necromancy point for Deathstalker.

What is this "ocular occlusion" that everybody wants to have in TESV?

I don't think Oblivion and Fallout were 'going in right direction.' For me, 'true open world' is the most important aspect of the games. Oblivion city designs(banning levitation) and Fallout 3's almost completely linear parts(map boundaries, blocked roads)... I am very worried.

And what is ocular occlusion really? Some sort of optimization technology? This must be one rare example when fans ask for optimization rather graphics updates from game developers. I have seen lots of Umbra signatures.

no people looked at the tamriel map and just guesed that the most logical place would be summerset Isles.  Their was also a rummor way back the expansion for oblivion ( shivering isles ) was going to be summerset isles.

Pah! I've seen lots of those too over at BethSoft Forums. One guy's signature is something like Bethesda: LightSprint and Umbra.... USE THEM!!! Or I'll go to your houses and light brown sacks of guar poop on your front porches (okay, the last line I made up)

EDIT: Someone was saying that they'd like to see the game as a one world cell? Do you think this would be better than having every place as a cell like how the games are now? How would this affect modding? Modding a cell is easy and doesn't take up a lot of space. But if you want to add a flower to an area, you have to load the entire world and save it like that? Is that how it would work?

Which is why it won't happen.  That's why they'll never do an ES game set in Argonia, either - much as I would prefer to see either or both of those over another Pale People With Straight Hair Land area.

This is the first TES game where I'm complaining about the fans before the game comes out.

All those "use Umbra" signatures. Guess what?

It's packaged with Gamebryo already. Possibly integrated, but I'm not sure. These console kiddies think they're being clever and they're not.
Not only that, but Lightspeed is a RAD framework on Gamebryo. If Bethesda goes with Gamebryo, as they have for MW, Oblivion and FO3, the chances of them not using Lightspeed and Umbra is roughly the same as them not using Havok and Speedtree (two other integrated middleware packages).

It's a culling engine. It makes things you can see disappear.

Yeah. The console kiddies are getting all worked up over something you're never going to see, because that's what it's designed to do.
Do they know that? No. Do they understand what Umbra or Lightspeed are? Nooo. Do they demand Bethesda use them? Yes.
Someone needs to drop hints the Bethesda might not be using that "386 thingy" in their next game. They'll all pick it up and we'll see demands for 32-bit support.

Let's petition that Bethsoft ally with a sublegal entity and assassinate everyone who bitches about non-DLC mods not being available on the consoles.

Why, the Dark Brotherhood, of course. Their rates are lower than the Morag Tong's :P

Assassin FAIL, better go with Morag Tong, at least they have a better chance.

It's better to hire someone competent for a little more than to waste your money on those less so.

Totally.

Plus I can't imagine me standing there talking to someone in faceless steampunk ninja-style garb going, "Look, I do NOT want them awakened by a loud noise, okay?"

Besides, you never know when an internal power struggle will hit the Brotherhood. They don't seem the most competent bunch, but they do look the part.

But then, with the Tong, you should try to get ahold of them before the Nerevarine does, or there might not be many left.
