Loss of a Legend

My dear Great House family, friends, and modding community,

Our beloved High Magister Jac passed away last week from the terrible blight of COVID.

Patrick Wilson, Pat, Jac, Jacura, gulfwulf - by whatever name you know him as, most certainly impacted your gaming experience, or you probably wouldn't be reading this. Jac is a prolific modder, introducing us to everyone's favourite companion Jasmine and forcing us to fight off the Dark Brotherhood again and again. He is also the creator of Wolflore, a dream of his come true in the form of an adult themed game modding community. And of course, possibly his true legacy: all of the time Jac spent on these forums helping you enjoy your gaming time. After accounting for a migration glitch here many years ago, his post count is considerably larger than anyone else's - and they are almost always an answer to a question, help given to a friend, or taking a chance to flirt with the love of his life Elaura, whom he met right here!

Just as you say, I always remember Jac best because I always saw him answering the questions of new players and new modders. He was always very generous with both his time and expertise. It's easy to forget how dauntingly difficult Morrowind was for most of us on our first encounters with its eccentricities and steep, by contemporary standards, learning curve. Jac was one of the kindest and wisest souls on the many forums he frequented.

So sorry for your loss, Elaura. You and Jac are two of the sweetest people I encountered in my gaming career. God bless you both.

Jac was one of the best. One of the brightest lights in the world shines brighter elsewhere. I hope those of us left can honour his memory befitting to such a wonderful person.

My condolences Elaura. No words will ever be enough to express the loss of a loved one, but I hope my own and everyone elses' here can provide some measure of warmth.

This news was an unpleasant shock. All my best to Elaura, hugs too. Jac was a wonderful human being and we are diminished by his loss. Will pass the news along to the FaceBook Morrowind group.

I've been gone a while, so this was a truly tragic bit of news to stumble upon. I still remember interviewing Jac for Morrowind Modding Interviews back in 2015... That seems so long ago now...

My deepest sympathies to Elaura, Jac was a unique voice in the community and one that cannot be replaced.

Wow. This news really is the end of an era. Jac was ALWAYS here, ready to answer questions, or help in any way he could. He is most certainly going to be missed.

Oh my God I'm so sorry to hear this news.  Jac had a great deal of patience putting up with my youth and taking a chance to give me some responsibility as his Mouth on this site.  While his contributions to modding and scripting knowledge were immense, his funloving and warm personality is far more memorable.  He was a large part of what made this forum feel like a home and he will be missed a great deal.

My sympathies to Elaura, I wish you the best.  I'm so happy you two found each other and were able to share a life together.

Oh Elaura, I am so sorry for your loss! Morrowind modders were a special generation and Jac was a champion in keeping the flame alive.

I have been putting this off since Elaura informed me of Jac's passing. I have not been able to come up with the right words for the feelings I have been having since I was told about the sad news, so I am going to try to share some of my experiences with Jac.
Jac was a wonderful man who always took the time to help me with what ever issues I had whole trying to mod Morrowind, Oblivion, and even Skyrim, but even more than that Jac was a friend who meant a lot to me. He was a good man who always had a level head in any situation that I saw him participate in.
He always had the right advice for me in any situation, even those that had nothing to do with GHF, or it's affiliates. Given a situation concerning the need for moderation an individual here at GHF, he always advised the use of a level head, and diplomacy, before taking harsh actions against an "offending" member. He was a calming force in my turbulent mind, when I needed it most it seemed, even after Elaura, and he had made the decision to withdraw from active participation on GHF.
On the modding side of things he often made insightful suggestions on my mods, and would often help me with scripts that were giving me problems. At the same time he would also take my input on his mods, and even ask me for help with some of his mods even though his understanding of the way Bethesda's scripting for TES games worked far better than I ever did. Some times I would be asked to make a mesh for him, and I would do my best to accommodate his needs, wishes, and desires.
When news of Jac's passing reached me, and Fliggerty, I was informed that Jac thought very highly of me, and I was ho ored to hear such news, while at the same time I was greatly saddened by the news of his passing. My heart goes out to Elaura, as well as those who Jac has touched through the TES modding community, and to those who have had the honor, and pleasure to know Jac in the real world. I hope that I can speak for every one who has had the opportunity to know Jac, either in the real world, or in the modding community, when I say, Jac you will he missed, and we all mourn your passing. Rest easy old wolf, you have earned it, my friend.
I miss you greatly.
