When it comes to sharing your mods with the community here, have you given any thought about how you will go about it? Where you will upload them? You put a lot of time and effort into your mod, and you definitely want people to enjoy it, right? Of course you do! So why would you upload them to the same old mod hosting sites that haven't changed more than appearance in years?
The Holds of Skyrim -- This is future of mod hosting!
All of us at Great House Fliggerty have been working on planning and building this new hosting site for months on end...we literally started the day Skyrim was announced. We have conducted polls throughout this and other modding communities to get preferences and ideas, we have spoken with hundreds of mod authors, and of course we are modders and mod players. All of the input we've gotten has come together to make an amazing resource!
Site Features:
- Share your mods with full descriptions, tags, screenshots, and comments.
- Add an unlimited number of files to each "mod," so you can include patches, support files, and multiple versions
- You have full control over your mods; you choose if the public can add comments, screenshots, use it as a resource, etc.
- Track all of the mods you've downloaded in your Manager....mark those you love and remove those you don't care for.
- Acquire mod resources such as meshes and scripts in our Resource gallery that you can use in your own creations!
- You will NEVER be forced to watch a 45 second video ad before downloading!
- And a LOT more....!
Our entire goal has been to design a system that is easy to use for both mod authors and end users, and yet is very powerful and loaded with goodies! We wanted to ensure that "trolls" couldn't just easily come by and spoil the reputation of your hard work with a single click or low rating....we have what we think is a very fair tracking system in place that tells a user how many times your mod has been download, how many people 'love" it, and how many people have deleted it from their Manager. It's as simple as that.
I also want to point out that we have some very talented developers working on other tools that will be available down the road. We will have a readme generator which can import details from your mod and add it to your File Manager already. We are working on adding a full featured forum to replace the simple comment system that can be available for each and every mod! And as we speak, developers are building a client-side app which you can use to automatically sync a selected folder on your computer with your online File Manager; that's right....YOU WON'T HAVE TO MANUALLY UPLOAD FILES EVER AGAIN!
So come on over to The Holds of Skyrim and take a look around. Excuse our dust as our construction crews finish up polishing everything (there are a few "Coming Soon" features right now, but over the next few days those will be replaced with real stuff!) And let's make Skyrim as amazing as Morrowind and Oblivion became!
