Lol...it's an old joke on an ancient Naval tradition:

The "Pipe" is a Boatson's whistle, which is played as the retiring sailor walks down the ramp to the shore.

It's called being "Piped Ashore".....

But....

...there are those who don't quite get it...and have to ask, "Now, why do you pipe them overboard?"

And we just wind up rolling on the floor in hysterics!
