Well I had just entered the game and crossed a field, then I alt-tabbed out to take a look at my map. When I came back, I was dead. Prime example of the friendly players in the game.

Well put yourself in their position.  Theres an AFK guy and he has stuff you want.  You also don't know if he is going to kill you and take YOUR stuff right when he gets back.  The best thing to do is pull the trigger

Well I found out that a couple friends of mine have the game, about to go meet up with them and raid an airfield. Good times

@Wolf well the thing is I had no idea they were there. And I keep an eye on my surroundings. Odds are I got sniped from the opposite hill.

I just downloaded it the other day, played it for a while, and then had to go do chores. It was awesome, though, I want to play it again. I just don't want to play it with people that are gonna shoot me!

Hey maiq since you've had it for a long time I'm curious to know how it is long term. Do you still get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

I honestly haven't played it in the past two weeks, but I'll tell you this. If you get a group of friends together and you play, and you get good weapons and vehicles and you set up a base, it can definitely be fun long term. If you don't have friends to play with, or you constantly get killed and lose your stuff, it'll be a bit repetitive. But then again, what game isn't?

I just got the mod.  It's incredibly addicting but the one trouble is finding a decent server...and getting a car

Yeah, most servers run on private hives these days to prevent hackers. If you can find one of those, you'll be golden. I know a couple good private hives that you could join if you need to find one.

Honestly, I haven't been playing DayZ much, but I've been playing a ton of ARMA 2, and it's definitely worth a look, even if you just got the game for DayZ.

Yea I've been playing a little bit of Arma 2 recently as well.  I'm not sure what the problem is, but there's just something wrong with dayz.  I think its the fact that you can hide your car/loot in a really nice spot and still have it stolen the next day.  Its frustrating, I don't mind when you die you have to restart, but when you spend an entire day getting a car and can only enjoy it for the moments you're trying to hide it and no matter how good a spot theres still a relatively high change someone will find it, its no fun.

Yeah, whenever I get a car, I tend to have a group and stash it somewhere. It's possible for an entire tent city plus a helicopter to stay hidden for days on end, but it's all about location and most importantly, luck.

Been playing a bunch recently, just on a no pvp server though. It's fun to just horde items haha

I recently uninstalled ARMA 2, but I'm thinking of reinstalling it. Last time I played DayZ was, oh, two or three months ago? Either way, I enjoyed playing. I usually try to get the heli first in emptier servers, however, it's all about survival in more populated servers. It's not really to be a jerk, but more to get to the good stuff before it's gone. That, and I love the UH-1 (in real life and in video games.)
