I got this game a few days ago, it's faintly reminiscent to Fallout 3. Especially love the random - gun - generator. Anyone else played the game?

I've seen it being played recently at a Convention (I got a good look since it was a tiny con of about 15 people.), and it certainly looked fun. I've been thinking of getting it for my Xbox 360 once I've got some more money again.

I just got the game yesterday and have played for a few hours. I like it so far, I already got a really good gun but I can't use it 'til I raise a few more levels.

Borderlands 2 is now out, and it'll be delivered to me tomorrow.  I'm primarily in love with the Siren and Zero.  I think the Gunnzerker is a huge improvement over the berserker from the prior game, but he just isn't my style.  The commando is pretty unimpressive to me honestly.  It looks like they spaced out his turret abilities in terrible ways.  I get that they don't want you to choose between the turret and the soldier, but they could have grouped the turret skills closer together than they did.  Regardless, the soldier was my favorite character in Borderlands, so I'm sure I'd enjoy a commando play through as well.  Really, really looking forward to the Mechromancer I will be getting for free as a preorder bonus.  She'll be the first entirely new character class in Borderlands 2 (the others adopted parts of previous characters).  Heh, but my first character will probably be Zero.

We'll probably get it when we can afford two copies. That or we'll get it for me, then get Elaura a copy later on. That split screen mode looks interesting... Elaura's waiting to give Axton a whirl because she loved Roland. We'll see how the characters play this time around.

It was worth it.

It's beyond freaking awesome.  Me and a friend are doing a co-op run with him as Maya and me as Axton.  My main solo character iz Zer0.  I am filled with endless joy just every time anyone does anything.  We actually wound up getting totally obliterated by enemies far below our level in a level 10 or so quest because were laughing so hard we just sat there in our car while a horde of monsters tore it apart.

Split screen was in the previous Borderlands for the console.  Are you saying they now have splitscreen for the PC?  If so I'd recommend you just get one copy and decide later on if you want two.  Playing solo is nice, but the characters were designed to work with each other a lot more than the previous game.

It's weird seeing this now, since I posted it back when Borderlands 1 was still new and I didn't know too much about it.
It'll be some time before I pick up Borderlands 2; the money I had set aside for it ended up going toward something else. But I will get it eventually

Wow I'm quite excited about that.  I got Borderlands 2 for the console so not that in particular but theres quite a few PC games I always wanted splitscreen on but could never do.  I even played with duel monitors but that didn't work at all.

Ah...

Hate to burst the bubble here, but there is no splitscreen option on the PC.  Gearbox games has specifically denied the possibility for quite some time, citing technical reasons.

Some fans are working on workarounds and such, but at this point the whole idea is pretty much "Find a way to resize the windows nicely and then run the game twice."  Or to run the game twice on different monitors.  Barely even qualifies as a duct tape solution to the issue.

If you want splitscreen co-op, Console is the way to go.

I just got the first one again so I can try to beat it before I buy the new one. Luckily I still had a lvl 31 char so I want have to start all over.

I've played a bit and I must say, it's a great game.  It's just Borderlands I with more.  I can't think of any downgrades from BL1 to BL2 unless you liked one of the characters from BL1 more than one from BL2.  Everything else seems to be an upgrade.  Oh and the starting area is excessivly long but I'm not sure if I like that or not right now.  I've played through all the characters but the Gunnzerker.  I'd say I like the siren the best.  Zero's cool too and Axton's great for solo.

The Gunzerker consistently surprises me.  When I first started playing it, it was the fourth character I had taken through the early regions of the game, and getting to level 5 seemed to take forever.  I had to come back to it twice.

When I finally got the Gunzerking ability, I found it mildly amusing.  I had a shotgun in one hand, and an assault rifle in the other hand, and neither was a spectacular weapon.  Time went on though...

By the time my Gunzerker hit level 10, I had two powerful flaming assault rifles wielded, and the moment came that I just utterly fell in love with the character.  I was fighting some bullymongs which were beating me back through sheer numbers, when I see at the end of this horde of at least a dozen a Badass Bullymong... immediately followed by another Badass Bullymong.  I activated my Gunzerker ability, and Salvador started humming.  I started blazing through my foes at maximum rate of fire, enemies just exploding into flames and falling away before me.  The two badass bullymongs both jumped in at me at the same time in this huge leap up to the plateau I was standing on as I was backing up, and as they were in midair and I was unloading my freshly reloaded guns at them, I recognized the song.

Salvador was humming "In The Hall of the Mountain King."  And then I was humming it too.  And then I was laughing.  And I couldn't stop, I was just laughing so hard.  And the bullets were flying, and the bullymongs roared, and Salvador hummed the song, and my enemies were bursting into flames.  The world was burning, and as the skill timer came to an end, all my foes were dead except the one badass bullymong which had a tiny sliver of health left.  It was so low it had staggered and was crawling towards me.  As the timer ran out, I walked up and punched it in the face, killing it as Salvador finished the song.

My words fail me.  I can hardly describe the joy that overtook me as I lit the world on fire.  So yeah, Salvador has my favorite action skill by a wide margin.

Decoy, Phaselock, and the Turrets are all cool, but Gunzerking is the only one that has filled me with joy to this extent.

Let me know if any of you find an Eridian Weapon.  I hear they're even rarer than the previous game (E-Tech gun you get during the quest is NOT an eridian weapon).  I loved those guns in Borderlands .

Eridian weapons yeah... haven't actually seen any straight up alien tech.  Just Eridium enhanced normal guns.

Right now I'm sitting around keeping an eye on Twitter, cuz' Randy Pitchford is throwing up SHIFT codes that you can enter in for golden keys.  Today he's doing two groups of one thousand redemptions only codes that give you five golden keys.  Just part of the extended testing process for the SHIFT codes, apparently.  I missed out on the "100 only" 10 key ones, but maybe I'll get lucky here.  One code for each platform.  Hmm...

He did one set this morning, and he'll do one more this evening.  I want five golden keys!  I've got two sitting around, and I've used two I think.  All purple gear from the fancy golden chest... it's very nice.

I used one just to try  it out and I didn't realize the golden keys were shared between all your characters.  I still have another just from signing up with shift I'm saving.  Still, I think you can only get purple weapons from it so I'm not sure if its worth waiting to level 50 since I'll have eridian or orange weapons by then.

Yeah, keys are locked to account, not character.  A bit more info you might like though is that it can also dispense shields, grenade mods, and class mods I think.  I've gotten shields and guns out of it, and I've at least heard of the other two.  As for when to use it... that's also an incredibly stupidly massive debate on the official forums.  People were freaking out about, hanging by bloody fingertips on the ragged edge of a flame war they were so contentious about when to use it.

Didn't help that three hours after the game was out the first reports of "Hey, I was herp derping around in Sanctuary and accidentally opened the huge golden chest with skulls on it that's all alone in its own room and is the only chest in town because I didn't know it was the Golden Chest to match my Golden Key.  Then I immediately dashboarded/shut off my system/alt+F4'd so that it wouldn't take."

There is ludicrous just outright retarded confusion about the keys and what they do and whatnot, and it seems to me like most people just aren't paying enough attention.

Anyway... I did get in as one of the first thousand who redeemed the codes last night!  Apparently all thousand were gone in about forty five seconds or so, but I got 5 golden keys out of it, so now I have a total of 7 left.

It's not such a hugely vital resource that you can't ever get more.  Soon they're planning on doing runs where it's not limited by number of redemptions, but just accepting everyone within a certain time period for example, so at a minimum you can expect to be able to get a handful more keys if you're willing to put any effort at all into it.  If I see one of the time limited ones come up, I'll stop by GHF and drop a note about it maybe.

But anyway, I'm excited now!  I've got seven keys burning a hole in my pocket.  Even if I limit myself and use something like one per five levels, It'll take me 35 more levels to burn through them, assuming I somehow failed to acquire more.

Edit: Oh, and you're right.  The chest always dispenses purple quality gear of the exact level that the person who opened the chest is at.  Anything you think is really good but don't wind up using you can just throw in CL4P-TP's stash for another character to come along.  Hoping to see if that gets expanded beyond four slots at some point.

Yea I figure in the time it takes to go from level 49 to 50, you'll have dropped something better than what might come out of the chest.  Still not sure if orange-rare weapons can drop from it.

And I was really surprised Claptrap's stash didn't have an upgrade at the black market.  I guess they didn't want it to be the bank, but better.

It can't dispense orange weapons.  I've been up and down the forums and read the official data on it several times.  It only ever dispenses purple stuff.  Period.

The game just came in and it's...interesting. I'm glad they kept the action and the humor from the first game, but dodging rocks thrown by bullymongs was a bit difficult at first. I can definitely see having fun MP.
