Subscribe now Wolf, subscribers are getting all sorts of free stuff over the summer leading up to release of the new pack. Next month they are introducing a new companion, and the following month, new blasters, followed by new outfit, and then giving subs KotOR Swoop-bike inspired speeders, finally in October they are giving Subs early access to the new pack. Plus right now Subs are getting 12x exp on class missions. Also on May fourth they gave subs unique purple/black LS crystals.
There are suggestions that you may be needing to restart all your characters too because the changes that they are making is going to increase class customization, and you will be able to recruit what companions you want rather then have one just join you in the process of your class mission arc. The rumor mill is running rampant, with suggestions that if you play a Jedi Class character that is strongly Dark-side you may be given the choice to defect to the Empire, and vise versa.
Wolf I've transferred all of my characters to Jedi Covenant. You could also transfer your characters to any server you want too, if you have enough Cartel coins. And as a sub you get cartel coins given to you every month. Currently I have the 180 day $12.99 a month plan, this plan is the cheapest yearly subscription, and it yields the most Cartel Coins a month at 600.

Hey! Pickles and peanut butter sauce. Try it.

Actually, don't try it. It tastes like *ss.

Anyway, I've been gone for like, years, now. My addiction to modding, gaming, and foruming was replaced by work, school, and a general restlessness that just won't go away. My plans to join the Navy didn't exactly work out, long story. But life's been fun so far.

So yeaaah. Sup?

Haha, life's been busy. I rarely have time to sit in front of my PC to check my email, much less game or forum. Got a small automotive repair gig going on the side, on top my full time job, slap a partial nightlife on that, and you've got a very tired, very busy Xar.

On the submerged tube part, where I'd about ripped a tendon or something in my ankle a few years back, it never fully healed. I ended up slamming my foot sideways during PT and couldn't hardly walk. I guess it tore or pulled again. We tried to let it heal, but the folks at MEPS noticed it, checked it out, and said no. I'd have had to wait another 6 months on the offchance that it would get good enough to go, but it's been about 6 months now, and it keeps messing up. But heck with it, I'm going back to college come fall. Life'll work out either way I guess.

Almost exact same story for me Xar!  I've been busy, and haven't been able to keep up with every GHF thread, but can't resist stopping by every once and a while.  Glad to hear you're well, keep visiting :p

As for subscription, Drakk.  I'm afraid I am going to have to wait at least until August.  As I said I just now have a job and am planning on getting an Asus t300 (kinda like a surface pro...but not a rip off).  Afterwards I will probably get a sub.  No idea what to spend cartel coins on or if it would be worth it to spend an extra $30.00 on additional cartel coins...

Xar Sorry to hear about the bad ankle keeping you out of the service, and then the life being busy for ya. I'm glad to hear that you're gonna give college a go again, and I wish you much luck with that path. Also yes what Wolf said keep comin' around here, cause we love the company.

Wolf if you would like here is a complete list of my characters on Jedi Council server of SWtOR:
Empire: Drakkmore, Vresrega, Luvan, Chutdi, Rrirni'vuwi'lis

Republic: Asroidâ, Foz'gofe, I'nigo, Ghitvekzan

If you decide to move on over to the Jedi Council, then you can friend me with any, and all of those characters that are on what ever side you are playing. I'll even let you have access to my strongholds, I've got a guild bank, GTN Kiosk, Mod Table, Mailbox, Legacy storage, and Cargo Hold on my Nar Shaddaa stronghold, and most of it on my Dromund Kaas, and Coruscant Strong Holds (I haven't yet saved enough to buy an Alderaan Stronghold yet, but I will eventually. If you don't want to switch servers that's also fine, just mention either way which you are doing.
If you do change friend these characters, and whisper me with who you are so I can give you access to the strongholds.

I'll be switching over to Jedi Council sometime after I subscribe.  I really don't like the server I'm playing on.  Being dominated by a 4:1 ratio of level 60s Empire to Republic is no fun (especially when I just want to do the event).  Also, Bastion has the lowest amount of people which is good for SP, but it's impossible to find people to play Heroic with.  When I switch I'll add those characters and let you know :p

On a side note, I just noticed your Sig xar....Didn't know you had a blog (or maybe I did a long time ago and have since forgotten).  Been reading it the last few minutes, good stuff.

Have any of you guys played SWG (Star Wars: Galaxies) back in the day? Before the NGE (New Game Enchantments) days that is. I've been playing SWGEMU (Star Wars: Galaxies Emulator) on and off for 2 years and it is really coming together, the only things missing are Jedi and the JTL (Jump To Light speed) expansion. Even if none of you have played in the the past I really do recommend it if you like open sandbox games. There is no story line and there is no classes, in place of classes their is professions which you can master, the starting professions are: Medic, Brawler, Marksman, Artisan, Politician, Entertainer, and Scout. The advanced professions are: Teras Kasi Artist, Swordsman, Pikeman, Fencer, Carbineer, Pistoleer, Rifleman, Ranger, Dancer, Musician, Image Designer, Architect, Armorsmith, Chef, Creature Handler, Doctor, Tailor, Droid Engineer, and Merchant. Each of the advanced professions require you too master a starting profession and some only require mastering a tree of a starting profession. The Elite Hybrid professions are: Bio Engineer, Bounty Hunter, Combat Medic, Commando, Smuggler, and Squad Leader. The coolest one in my opinion is bounty hunter, which lets you well, hunt bounties. Most are NPC's but occasionally you can hunt a Jedi which are other players. Unfortunately Jedi is not yet released on SWGEMU but it is on the Hydian Way server. Unlocking Jedi is a very very tedious task (It requires randomly mastering all the professions in the game) but the reward is worth it, as you can make lightsabers and use force powers and all that stuff, but beware of bounty hunters as if you show your powers and or lightsaber off to other players it increases awareness which makes you appear on bounty hunter terminals, if you die as a jedi you lose experience, though it used to be perma death and if you were a jedi master you'd become a blue ghost which was pretty neat. It is still my favorite mmo to date you guys should really check it out. Oh, I almost forgot, you can join the rebels or the empire (not at character creation, you have to go to a recruiter) and you can fight in open pvp for which side you choose, or you can be neutral. The races you can choose are: Human, Zabrak, Trandoshan, Bothan, Rodian, Ithorian, Mon Calamari (Its a trap!), sullustian, Twi'lek, and Wookie. Each race has their own drawbacks and advantages for example if you aren't a human you will have a harder time gaining renown with the Empire, Wookies and Ithorians cant wear armor for other races, Trandoshan can't wear boots and so on and so forth. The graphics are pretty dated but still hold up to this date, their is player housing and player cities, you can literally build you house anywhere you choose, as long as it isn't in a npc city like Mos Eisley. There is so much more to this game, I can go on and on and on about it, though you guys should figure it out for yourselves.

Hey guys.  I know not a lot of people are still around, but just wanted to check in.  What's going on with everyone?  I'm about to finish college (think I joined this forum early into high school).  Don't really play any PC games anymore though, they've all gone downhill.  Enjoyed Fallout 4, but everything from all the other AAA's is just a monygrab now.  And right now, the moneygrab is making an "Open World Sandbox Game" which is great for Skyrim, but I don't need it in Zelda or Mass Effect...

I know a lot of you aren't around, but are still checking in every couple months.  Feel free to respond late, I'll be checking this for a while.

Hey everyone, it's been quite a while. I saw a post on the MMH Facebook page and that combined with the fact that Morrowind recently celebrated its 15th anniversary made me want to stop by.

I just wrapped up my second year of community college, still have two more semesters to go because I switched from programming to networking halfway through last spring (yes, I joined GHF at like age 12). As far as gaming goes, I'm two years into the 1440p lifestyle and I never want to go back. I've recently gotten back into Fallout 4, and I started playing the new early access battle royale game, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, mostly because all my friends from high school play it and it's a way to keep up with them. Other than that, I'm still super into football and play Madden on the Xbox One, and I'm getting into basketball as well. Still sometimes play through Morrowind, I've found that OpenMW runs much better on Windows 10 than the original game.

Anyway, once I have this associates, I'll probably be moving to Cleveland to live closer to my mom, and trying to get into a four year college. I'm thinking Cleveland State or Akron.

Wolf, congratulations on finishing college. What did you major in?

Drakk, I probably still talk to you the most out of anyone else here, and that means approximately one time a year. But I'm always glad to chat with you.

I can't believe I've been a member here for 9 years. I wish GHF was still as busy as the day I joined.

MAIQ DA BOSS!!!!!
It's great to see from you!
It's good to see that you're doing well, and I hope that you get as much out of school as you possibly can.
1440 right. for those of us that can not afford a 4k monitor it's awesome. Running 1440 on a 32 inch television is a little sketchy at times, but my GPU powers through. Though sometimes I fear that my GPU fan is about to fail. Like currently I fear it as my GPU seems to be running hotter these days (still under 60 C.right now), and the fan speeds seem to be down.  I'm thinking that it might be time for a new PC. With my current GPU I can not even play FO:4, or Skyrim SE. How ever with mods my Skyrim still looks comparable to SSE.
I haven't tried OpenMW for almost a year, how is it progressing? Last I had read about it they were changing their engine to something a little more forgiving.
I'm kind of waiting for Skywind to have a playable beta, though with SSE out I'm thinking that they'll turn around, and drop the Skyrim version in favor of SSE, and the updated engine.
Windows 10 is never going to be on a machine that I own (I only updated to windows 7 due to the lack of drivers for my current GPU on Windows XP). It seems that with every new Windows they release Microsoft takes away more of your control over the machine that you legally own. I won't have it. If I ever have to upgrade to a new operating system It will be a Linux  machine that will be built.

You'll have to stick around for a while we've had a few of the folks from back when drop in for a bit, and it felt more like home around here again. Even if it isn't terribly busy here I still log in every day, and see what is going on. I do not spend as much time here as I did when it was more active, but I still look around to see if anybody is here.

This is our current chat room: custom_page.php?page=61 If you don't feel like posting in the forums, you can always post something in the chat. There isn't always anybody there, but you will likely get a response from me, or Donner, or somebody through out the course of the day.

Like I said it gladdens me to see you around here, and I hope it continues for a long time.

I last played it a few months ago, but they pretty much have the entire main quest done with minimal bugs. It runs pretty smooth for me.

Yeah it's amazing how privacy on a computer is pretty much nonexistent these days. Unfortunately, Windows 7 and 8.1 will not support the new CPUs that AMD and Intel have been pushing out, and I don't even know if  Nvidia still makes Windows 7 drivers for my GTX 970. As much as I use Linux for classes, I wouldn't make a LInux distro my primary OS because even though more and more games are compatible with Linux, there still just aren't enough games that it's natively compatible with to justify it for me.

Hey-hey.

I got a tablet so I could have something more portable for school (highly recommend - not a sponsor https://www.amazon.com/Transformer-T300 ... ds=t300chi)
Originally, I had the version linked which had a 1080p screen.  A few months ago, electricity (not me) broke it and I used the standard warranty to get a new one.  I guess they didn't have any of my model linked so they gave me the 1440p version instead.  On a 12.5 inch display,  I have a pixel density of 235.  It doesn't sound that impressive, but I love the clarity for everyday use.  I don't game on it (obviously), but with the power of a 1440p screen coupled with an SSD, there are a LOT of times I prefer it to my laptop that has a better processor and a video card.  I use them both simultaneously most of the day (2 laptops >> dual monitors)

4-year college for engineering.  I'm looking at getting into Control Systems.  If you're interested in what that is.... Cruise control is a good example of a controls system.  You can keep your car at 60mph even if you hit a bump if you have a good control system - or step response : http://lpsa.swarthmore.edu/Transient/Tr ... imgBE1.gif : - the blue line in this case would be the best under most cases because it stays very close to the desired value <y(t) = 1> and gets there relatively quickly without any initial overshoot.
It's cool, I promise!  But that's basically what I'd like to be doing.

Linux is sweet.  I'd recommend Linux Mint if you like Windows 7's UI.  Otherwise, I'm using Ubuntu now because it is the most common version of Linux and has the most compatabillity.  However, the customizabillity is fairly poor - I'm stuck with a bar on the top instead of the bottom as well as the Unity program launch bar on the left or bottom (can't move to top or right).

That being said, I'd recommend dual booting windows and Linux together if you build your own PC.  You can use Linux when you want to do things online for privacy and run windows with the Internet disconnected when you want to play games.  Windows 10 actually has one of the best interfaces I've experienced - or maybe that's because I came from windows 8.

So true. In my experience it really takes time to figure out yourself, and the career you want to go into. As they say in Germany: "Gut ding will weile haben"(good thing wants its time). Trial and error is pretty much inevitable, unless you are lucky enough to find a profession you are passionate about and will stick to through life from the start. To be honest in my circles, I know of none such example. It always took more or less time and trial and errors... More or less painfull trial and errors too which can be very frustrating and discouraging. I wish you all the best of luck on that long and stony path, or rather, that your path isn´t stony at all.

Drakkmore wrote:Though sometimes I fear that my GPU fan is about to fail. Like currently I fear it as my GPU seems to be running hotter these days (still under 60 C.right now), and the fan speeds seem to be down.  I'm thinking that it might be time for a new PC.

You hit a similiar issue I am having right now with my 8-9 year old PC system now(hell it lasted REALLY long by now!). In my case fans are not really getting weaker, I controll them and the speed via tools like Expertool or Easytunes. It is just that it heats up faster then before... There is something else I noticed in case of GPU at least: The higher the heat climbs, the more the GPU actually limits itself. It will produce more lag and less performance when it is too hot. So basically, ensuring good cooling actually helps to boost your natural performance of your GPU preventing it from limiting itself to prevent dangerous overheating. Other then installing new fans all you can do is give your entire PC a good clean and remove all dust. If that too doesn´t help or not enough... It is definitely time for a new system. Also just to be capable of the next generation of games too to begin with.

Drakkmore wrote:Windows 10 is never going to be on a machine that I own (I only updated to windows 7 due to the lack of drivers for my current GPU on Windows XP). It seems that with every new Windows they release Microsoft takes away more of your control over the machine that you legally own.

Again so true! I so hate it when windows just does stuff in the background without my order! Windows XP was highly customazible, windows 7 less. I never tried windows 10 but I heard enough stories from people complaining... Also complaining about the fact that far too much just runs automatically and you have no ways or means of setting windows 10 to follow your orders manually.

As of such despite the new DirectX in windows 10 which would give me a performance boost, I will probably be sticking to windows 7, and otherwise switch to linux. Well... here´s the problem: I did that years ago already, I actually managed to run everything on a Suse linux distribution, except games! And no matter how big my attempts were at emulating stuff over Wine it failed... In the end all I got to run were simple games like Warcraft 3, and even that was occasionally buggy but playable. For other games I also needed things like visual C++ installed. However, unless you have an iso version of it it is extremely hard to impossible to actually emulate VC++ over Wine... And microsoft really made sure you won´t find any iso version of VC++ anymore on the entire web(I searched the web for months... all I found were dead downloadlinks and forum topics of people highlighting the fact that microsoft used its power to remove the iso version of VC++ and make sure no active download link of it could be found on the entire web... Microsoft really sure did a hell of a good job on that one unfortunately!).

Unless microsoft gives me a next generation proper windows system like windows 7, I will probably be returning to linux. However, due to the impossibility of emulation over linux, I conjured up an alternative: A dual OS system. Simply have 2 OS, one windows 7 and one linux. Linux i´ll be using for anything but gaming. My windows partition will NEVER go online and be purely offline, and purely meant for gaming.

Seems like the easiest and best solution to me. Unless you want to go down the extremely long and annoying route of emulating everything via linux... Good luck... Trust me it is hard!(but doable, somehow that is) If you want to go down that route another word of advice from my experiences:

Don´t choose linux distributions such as Suse. Stick to either Gnome or Ubuntuu. Why? Because they have the best support! And especially Gnome is easy(for linux standards lol), Ubuntuu is complex on the other hand, however especially Ubuntuu has very good community and forum support and due to its complexity has more opportunities and tweaks you can do or add, making it definitely the best choice for proper and flawless emulation of games. Suse is very in the middle and still very customazible(the reason I choose it back then when I first tried linux. Confident in my skills but not "overconfident" and hence I didn´t want to try Ubuntuu, but I also figured Gnome would be too simple and easy which also held true in my case). However, the poor community and forum support broke my neck there with the otherwise in my oppinion good Suse distribution... And later I regreted it that I underestimated myself and didn´t go for Ubuntuu(or simply Gnome for that mater) instantly with its good community support!

Anyway I returned to windows... And now windows threathens to mess itself up entirely... Unless they make a proper windows version in the future a dual OS is pretty much the only option I will have and what I will be going for. Also has the pro that I save myself money and throw less in the throats of microsoft, a company that frankly in my oppinion by today, deserves no penny anymore for their more then flawed products combined with their aggressive and near criminal marketing methods that kill off valuable competition such as linux distributions.

Meh how unfortunate...  I feel for ya. I broke my knee badly in january this year... It really messed up my knee and I am still recovering. Abstract pain remains, i´ve been to so many doctors now... I am pretty sure I finally found a competent one. My cartilage and meniscus actually seem to be okay(prior to what my other 2 orthopedists said. My current orthopedist cited 3 possible, for me mumbo jumbo, possible reasons for the pain that come into question that need to be diagnosed properly). Yet, the reason for the remaining pain and stiffniss still remains a mystery... I will be off to some scans and more proper X-rays next week to hopefully finally figure out the reason for it.

Because of that I have I have a lot more time then before but also very little cash lol... I hope to get back on my feet(literally) as soon as possible. Good luck and recovery to you. And my advice if you feel, or hell, know a doctor is incompetent due to messing up or reviews from other doctors: Change the doctor until you get a proper one that cares and does proper diagnosis and treatment. Your story really sounds to me what I just experienced with sloppy doctors over the past months. It never hurts to get several oppinions from different doctors. Especially since doctors in the end are humans too, and prone to human error like everyone else.
